Fresh look for latest UM Group Induction

Posted on 22 May, 2026

UM Group welcomed 12 new starters to its latest induction programme.

The largest ever cohort also allowed us to give the induction a refreshed look including a new venue for the two days of presentations and a different restaurant for the evening social gathering.

Our inductions provide an opportunity to inform new colleagues about the Group and its various activities, but also to socialise and spend quality time together.

The latest cohort consisted of:

• Liam Crowley, Inspections Manager, United Inspections

• Liam Francis, NDT Technician, United Inspections

• Mats Lueders, Customer Service & Trade Support, Hansa Melasse

• Amy Wilson, Group Senior Accountant, W&R Barnett

• James Foley, Customer Support Administrator, Molasses GB

• Tom Price, Shipping Administrator, UM Trading

• Edyta Szafranska, Accounts Payable, UM Group

• Aaron Boulaich Amar, Sales & Logistics Technician, UM Espana

• Matt McCluskey, Accounts Administrator, UM Terminals

• William Stackhouse, Junior Commercial Manager, Molasses GB

• Awais Arif, Management Accountant, UM Group

• Hassan Ahmed, Business Analyst, UM Group

As ever, the two-day event contained a packed schedule of presentations starting with a Welcome to UM Group from our CEO Ben Macer.

A big thank you to everyone else who led presentations including Rebecca Broughton-Lee (Environment, Health & Safety), Isabel Conde (Quality), Fionn Beech (Shipping/Chartering), Stephen Garrett (Cyber Security), Felicity White (GB Molasses), Laurianne Wilson (Andean Life), Andrew Creasey (Trading/Europe), Geraldine Carroll (Meta compliance/LMS/iTrent), Nigel Jones (Sustainability) and Vic Brodrick (UM Terminals),

In addition, two of our delegates, Aaron Boulaich Amar and Mats Lueders gave presentations about UM Espana and Hansa Melasse respectively.

Due to the extra numbers on this induction, the presentations took place at Etc.venues on Eastcheap. The dinner at the end of the first day was held at The Libertine Restaurant & Bar in the City and was attended by the 12 new starters and 15 other colleagues from the Group.

Geraldine Carroll, Group HR, Training and Office Manager, who organises the inductions, said: “Due to the larger than usual numbers on the induction, we took the opportunity to give the event a bit of a refresh with new venues for the presentations and the dinner. We also kept some of the usual elements such as our walk to the famous Shard, one of London’s most iconic landmarks.

“The inductions offer a chance for new starters to learn about the many different parts that make up our Group as well as to meet colleagues who they might not see in their day-to-day working lives.

“As a business, we are passionate about investing in our people whether that is through ongoing training and development or the various wellbeing and charitable activities that we undertake throughout the year, many of which bring together colleagues from around the world.”
