Integrating Sustainability
We believe in the power of people and the importance of supporting charities in the sustainability sector.
At the heart of our company are people
our employees and the communities we serve.
At the heart of our company are the people – our employees and the communities we serve. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes equal opportunities. By empowering our employees, we encourage innovation and creativity, driving us towards sustainable solutions for a better future. We recognise the important role charities play in driving environmental and social change. Through strategic partnership with charities, we actively contribute to initiatives that focus on poverty reduction, healthcare, and wellbeing.
By supporting these organisations, we aim to amplify their impact, helping them to reach more people and create lasting change.
We encourage our employees to support a diverse range of charities that align with our values through charitable donations and fundraising. We firmly believe that by supporting charities, each of us can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Our Shareholders, W&R Barnett run an amazing Charity Match Funding Scheme which runs all year through. They also run a Volunteer Grant Scheme which is open in January and July each year. The Charity Match Funding scheme will match employees charitable efforts up to a maximum of £2k per employee per event. The Volunteer Grant scheme is for employees who volunteer at a registered charity.
We allocate a pot of £5,000 to donate to our employees’ fundraising activities every year

Wellbeing & Mental Health
At UMG, we value metal health as highly as physical health and offer resources to help support individuals when required.
We have recently set up the UM Wellbeing Focus Group. Various actions have been completed since this Group was set up including:
• Issue of UM Wellbeing Policy
• Mini health checks offered to all staff
• Mental Health First Aiders in all sites
• We Care – wellbeing app
• Employee Assistance Programme – ICAS
In 2024 UM will run a Global Wellbeing Initiative.
As part of the initiative, we are currently planning a Group Wide Fundraiser involving all staff across the globe who we hope will walk, run, swim or cycle on average 25 miles over a 6-week period. This is to raise funds for the wonderful Farm Africa charity.
